Meditative Beaver

The movement had just been created in England. Henri joins in after his father inquired about the morality of the new movement.

His friends “totemise” him and he becomes “meditative beaver”, predestined name for one who will become a Capuchin monk and will meditate frequently, and one who will dedicate his life to a lasting fight for the housing of the underprivileged.

Loving those who have nothing

As an adolescent, Henri Grouès dreams of becoming a missionary and loving those who have nothing. He joins the Capuchins at the age of 20 but will be forced to give up monastery life for health reasons. After leaving the monastery he finds his true calling.

His ordainment takes place on August 14, 1938.
